Disagreeing Agreeably: Upholding Protected Spaces for Dialogue and Respect
The Drumlanrig Accords recognise that genuine reconciliation does not require uniformity of thought. Our traditions teach us that differences in belief and perspective are natural and, when approached with dignity and respect, can serve as opportunities for deeper understanding and mutual growth. We are committed to fostering a culture of *disagreeing agreeably* where engagement is guided by respect, dialogue, and a shared responsibility to uphold the dignity of all participants. In doing so, we ensure that disagreements do not lead to division, or worse still exploited by third party actors.
Holding the Protected Space Around Our Differences
There are areas where we may never fully align in perspective. The Drumlanrig Accords do not seek to erase or resolve these differences but instead provide a framework for engaging with them constructively. By upholding the sanctity of dialogue and ensuring that our disagreements do not translate into division or hostility, we create a foundation for sustained cooperation and friendship.
